Qasida | Mu’allaqah – معلقة المديح النبوي

Suspended Poem in Praise of the Prophet ﷺ

From the Diwan "The Lights of the Spring"
By Sh. Muhammad al-Yaqoubi
معلقة المديح النبوي من ديوان أنوال الربيع للعلامة الشيخ محمد اليعقوبي

This poem is part of the collection “The Lights of the Spring” – أنوارُ الربيع, written by H.E Shaykh Muhammad al Yaqoubi. This poem challenges the eloquence of the famous pre-Islamic Mu’allaqat – seven poems which were suspended inside the Kaaba. The Shaykh, may Allah preserve him, wrote it as an epic in praise of the Prophet ﷺ at the same level of eloquence.

The English translation will come soon in shaa Allah.

The poem begins:

Greetings of the night of the Noble Birth
From a heart of one passionately in love with the Elect

The Love for the Prophet entered the precincts
of its breast in his youth, then stayed there ….

And the last line of it reads:

The mention of the beloved is the best nourishment
for a lover who fasted from turning to other than Him.
