To him I have submitted my heart and my soul
And to him I surrendered since ever my reins

People have forgotten my name and remember only his,
They call me but “The one who yearns”, “The one in love”

My own attributes have been effaced by passionate love
I am his servant, without questioning

When I hear the adhan, it is he who calls
And when facing the Qibla in prayer, he is my Imam

In Hajj, around him I cirumbulate
And to him I rush in my Sa’y in Ihram

How long have I been yearning for the Beloved,
Hoping to see his face appearing in my dream.
