A number of miracles were bestowed upon and performed by Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him to establish the proof of his prophethood. The greatest miracle bestowed upon him was the revelation of the Qur’an. The Qur’an is miraculous in a number of aspects: Its linguistic perfection and inimitability, its validation by recent historical, archaeological, and scientific discoveries, its prophecies and so on. Unlike the miracles of other prophets before him, the miracle of the Qur’an is eternal. Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him also provided us with many true prophecies.

2014 Miracles: A Miracle in Libanon (0:10 - 2:56) In Saida, Lebanon, 1953, people celebrated the Mawlid of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Very natural, a great event. In several parts of the Islamic world, during big feasts such as marriages, arrival from Hajj, or birth of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, they fire firearms. It's wrong and people shouldn't use firearms on such occasions. Not at all. Such instruments are deadly and could, by any mistake, kill someone. You want to show your love to Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam? Show it in ways that are allowed. Ways that do not incur any harm or cause any damage, not to yourself, not to the people around you. However, people used firearms, they shot guns, and by mistake, a young Christian girl was shot and she received a bullet in her spine. She was taken to hospital and moved later to AU Hospital, American University Hospital, in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. Obviously, a shot in the spine would cause huge damage, often irreversible. However, this case was different. The girl was in intensive care unit. Doctors came from various specialties and they reached the conclusion that the girl is going to die. There were no hopes in the girl's survival. (3:00 - 4:59) They put limits of a few hours. They called the mother and asked her to get in and give farewell words to her daughter. The mother, from a family called Gattas, that was the name of the family, got in a mood that is angry, but at the same time, challenging. Oh Muhammad, you are a prophet. People were celebrating your birth and they caused this damage to my daughter. Do you allow this? If you are a prophet, show me a miracle. Come to help and save my daughter. A non-believer, remember, who is saying these words, was not a lover of Rasulallah, not someone who knows his maqam, not someone who is passionate about remembering him and recalling his name and making prayers upon him, not someone who spent his life in praise and love of Rasulallah, obedience to him and following his sunnah. That was a non-believer, a non-Muslim, a Christian, but with real state of necessity, state of needs. (5:03 - 5:39) She got in the room to say farewell words to her daughter. She was surprised. Her daughter was sitting on the bed and shouting, Mom, don't come in. Don't interrupt. Muhammad is leaving. Don't let him leave. What's happening? She said, Muhammad came in the room and wiped over me. As you see, I am fit. Nothing wrong with me. (5:40 - 5:45) She was crying. The whole family took shahada, embraced Islam. 2014 Miracles-of-the-Prophe_Talk1 (0:00 - 37:31) Allah, Allah, Ya Rasul Allah Allah, Allah, Ya Rasul Allah Ya Rahmatan, Ya Maladi Allah Wa Ya Maladi Yawm Allah Udhur ilayna, atfan alayna Nahnu asadna, nahnu jalayna Law laka Ya Ahmadu ma baqina Luhdi al-Rasul, Bab al-Rasul Luhdi al-Rasul, Bab al-Rasul Bihi Tanal Kulla al-Ma'mun Wa Luhdihi Bab al-Mas'ul Ana Muhammad Taha Wahab lana min ladunka rahmatan innaka anta alwahab Rabbana innaka jami'un nasi liyawmin la rayba feehi Inna Allaha la yukhlifu almee'aad As-salatu was-salamu alayka Ya Sayyidi Ya Rasul Allah Ya khayra khalqi Allah As-salatu was-salamu alayka Ya Sayyidi Ya Rasul Allah Ya Habib Allah As-salatu was-salamu alayka Ya Sayyidi Ya Rasul Allah Ya Khatama Rasul Allah Dear brothers and sisters Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says in Al-Quran Al-Kareem About our beloved Prophet salallahu alayhi wa alihi wasalam In Surah Al-A'raf from verse 157 Those who follow the Messenger, the national prophet Who they find written with them in the Torah and the Gospel He commands them to do what is right and forbids them from doing what is wrong And makes lawful to them the good things and forbids them the bad things And makes lawful to them the good things and forbids them the bad things And those who believe in him and honor him and support him And follow the light that was sent down with him Those are the successful Say O people I am the Messenger of Allah to you all Who has the kingdom of the heavens and the earth There is no God but He, who gives life and causes death So believe in Allah and His Messenger The national prophet Who believes in Allah and His words And follow him that you may be guided Some of the meanings may suggest the following Those who follow the Messenger Those who follow the Messenger Describing the function of the Prophet Different from other verses that describe his character Describing his job, a messenger, a prophet Those who follow the messenger, the unlettered prophets Whom they find described in their Torah and Gospel He will enjoin on them good and forbid them evil He will make lawful for them all good things and prohibit for them what is foul And he will relieve them of their burden and the fetters that were upon them Those who believe in him, honor him Those who believe in him, honor him Support him And follow the light which has been sent down with him And follow the light which has been sent down with him Those are the successful They are the successful Say, addressing Muhammad s.a.w. our master O mankind, truly I am the messenger of Allah to you all Truly I am the messenger of Allah to you all A command from Allah s.w.t Addressing the Prophet s.a.w. to tell humanity Say, O people, I am the messenger of Allah to you all O mankind, truly I am the messenger of Allah to you all The messenger of him to whom belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth There is no God save him He gives life and gives death So believe in Allah and his messenger The unlettered prophet who believes in Allah and his words And follow him that you may be rightly guided These are some of the marvelous description of the job of the Prophet s.a.w. And also a command from Allah to tell, that he should tell humanity That he is a messenger and a prophet to everyone, to all mankind Addressing him with beautiful titles, a messenger and a prophet And describing him as being unlettered Ar-Rasool, An-Nabi, Al-Ummi As to being a messenger, it is carrying a message from Allah s.w.t to humanity Such a messenger needs to be prepared And he s.a.w. was prepared with prophethood A prophet is An-Nabi An-Nabi is in the Arabic language, the etymology of the word in the Arabic language Suggests that is the one who tells the unseen Tells the news of the unseen, something that is beyond the reach of humanity And he s.a.w. as other prophets did, conveyed to humanity in knowledge It is beyond the scope of our minds Even the English word prophet suggests the following, also the same It is from Latin, from Greek ultimately, pro, before And prophet is from the second part of the word Is from thanai, the Greek verb or root that suggests the meaning speaking So it is to foretell, to tell the unseen That is the job of a prophet to remind humanity of forgotten facts And to bring also another type of knowledge that is inaccessible for humanity About the heavens, about the garden, about the fire, about the day of judgment And about many other things Yet in order to bring this knowledge, one needs to be prepared Qualified, you cannot sit in a university and deliver lectures If you do not have some sort of qualifications You cannot open a clinic if you are not qualified as a physician Similarly, in order to work in the field of dawah In order to teach the deen, you need to be qualified Unfortunately, in the West here I am surprised And it is really sad to tell that the only qualification here For anyone to work in the field of dawah is, you know what, to speak English Unfortunately, this is why the deen is distorted And this is why the image of Islam is being so badly depicted Because of just people being unqualified Claiming jobs or claiming knowledge that they didn't acquire So the prophet was prepared to present to humanity the ultimate code of happiness The alchemy of success The preparation didn't go through universities or schools He didn't go to teachers It is Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala who took care of him And that is the first miracle That is the first miracle that addresses the function of the prophet How Allah prepared him to receive the Quran Which is the ultimate miracle of Islam And the most important miracle of the prophet Beside many other thousands and thousands of miracles He was unlettered He didn't learn how to read and write As you are all familiar with When Jibreel came down upon him in the cave of Hira And Jibreel is squeezing him To prepare him for the message that is coming And the prophet is telling here that he didn't learn how to read It's not saying that I'm not going to read No, actually, he is rather describing that it is not his profession It's not his trade He didn't learn how to read and write So he was surprised at that command coming to him He is unlettered And that was a great preparation And if we want to understand that miracle of the prophet The best way to understand it is to put it in the context of another miracle To compare it to the miracle of Isa a.s And his miraculous birth from the virgin Mary That great miracle of Isa a.s Who is also described as being the word of Allah Because Allah created him without any agent Without any means directly Without a father So B, and he was born a.s Yet the preparation for that was done before In order to perfect the miracle Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala kept a Sayyida Maryam a.s virgin So that no human element should contaminate Or have any hand in the making of the miracle Of the birth of Sayyiduna Isa a.s Similarly, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala didn't want to have Any human element or source of knowledge That would contaminate the heart of the prophet s.a.w Because human knowledge is man-made And man-made laws, theories are prone to errors Even the most sophisticated and well-established theories now As you may be well aware of Are prone to error factor, p-value You are aware of this So there is no way that a man could convey the message of heaven To people on earth without being protected From the filth of human knowledge From the possibility of errors within the human realm So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells us in Al-Qur'an Al-Kareem Didn't he know you when you were an orphan? An orphan s.a.w was raised up to also perfect the miracle Because no other two people would be able to affect a person Better than his parents And when a person loses his parents There is no other way a person can get anything directly And so strongly and be attached to the society Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala from his early years Wanted him to attach to heaven, not to earth So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala took his parents away To make the miracle clearer and more evident to humanity Then Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala prepared him with divine knowledge Pouring directly on his heart It is a historical fact that is beyond controversy That the prophet of Islam, Sayyiduna Muhammad s.a.w Did not learn from anyone Did not study, did not read, did not write It is a historical fact that was admitted by his contemporaries Although you might have every now and then people popping up In the east and in the west claiming that the prophet s.a.w Upon a meeting of a monk on one of his journeys to Syria He learned everything, all this knowledge Upon one meeting that lasted probably for a few minutes with a monk Of course, there is no way to prove That the prophet s.a.w learned Actually, he taught the monk He taught the monk that he is the man, the promised prophet That he is the messenger of Allah s.a.w And whether it was Bahira or others It was a great miracle that appeared in front of such monks That the awe of the prophet s.a.w Even at that early age Before he received the message s.a.w Made so great an impact on them The prophet s.a.w was unlettered He wasn't illiterate Illiteracy for us is a big shame Illiteracy for us is a deficiency But for him s.a.w It was a miracle A miracle that prepared for the following miracles You may have heard and read Many of the miracles of the prophet s.a.w His miracles enumerate thousands We have over three thousand Miracles that took place during his lifetime s.a.w After his message Within 23 years Over three thousand stories are narrated Documented in our books The best that is known of Jesus Are a little bit over 30 miracles I'm not here going to compare Jesus is a great prophet But I know that Americans believe in miracles I know this, this is a fact That the Newsweek magazine established some time ago In a survey in Nepal And the result was as far as I remember 84% of Americans believe in miracles And miracles may happen And 70% plus of Americans believe That miracles may happen to people of other faiths This is the poll that was conducted by the Newsweek magazine So no wonder we speak to Americans about miracles And the miracles of the prophet s.a.w If you believe in miracles Then we don't have any problem with you Because the miracles of our beloved prophet s.a.w Are self-evident Historically speaking, rationally speaking They are self-proved There is no need even to prove them If you believe in miracles Then you must believe in the message of the final messengers The seal of all prophets and messengers Our beloved prophet s.a.w There is no way to escape it Say I believe in miracles And then the next step is that you are a Muslim You must be a Muslim Miracles by definition are a divine act A divine act of God That breaks, disrupts the norms That disrupts or intervenes in order to change What is commonly observed And it is very important to understand That this is how we define a miracle Actually, I have the definition of Thomas Aquinas Thomas Aquinas defined a miracle When he said those things are properly called miracles Which are done by divine agency Beyond the order commonly observed in nature Beyond the order commonly observed in nature He was a Christian Nowadays, it is very difficult for people to understand a miracle Because they rely on a different definition of a miracle A miracle is now understood as opposed to science The worst probably or the most dangerous challenges against miracles Were brought by David Hume And they stem from his definition of a miracle He defines a miracle as something that breaks the natural law Something that breaks the natural law In another way, the natural law is the principle and the norm And the miracle comes to disrupt the natural law This is why it is very difficult for people in modern time To understand the function of a miracle He says a violation of the laws of nature By a particular volition of the deity Or by the interposition of some invisible agents The key point here is the laws of nature There is nothing as such to be called laws of nature There is the divine laws Because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala ordained the world Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala arranged everything in its place to fit There is nothing that is called a natural law Not even the Archimedean law That a floating body must displaces or always displaces The amount of water that is equal to its weight Not even that law There is nothing that is called natural law Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is the creator We see things happening And because they always happen We think that they will always happen like this No, they will not always happen like this Unless Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will Unless Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala supports and sustains And wills that they be in the same order They will be in the same order Fire doesn't burn by its nature Medicine doesn't cure by its nature Food doesn't cause satiation by its nature It is by the creation of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala It is very important to understand the theory of causation As called in Christian theology And this is the base of the misunderstanding of a miracle Yet, unfortunately, with all of the denial Of the miracles of our beloved prophet In this modern time With all the claims of science and technology and advancement Yet, we find nowadays that new age movements are increasing And getting stronger and stronger People are using terms and calling things like such as Crystal healing And the channeling of departed spirits People are talking probably the best stories The best sold stories are The abduction by creatures in flying saucers Unfortunately, yet still people You tell them of a miracle of our beloved prophet And they will not believe it The function, why a miracle happens It's a divine act It's a disruption But there is a goal There is a purpose behind the miracle The purpose behind the miracle is to prove That the person at whose hand the miracle is happening Is speaking on behalf of God, the prophet And I'm talking here about a miracle A prophetic miracle When a prophet comes with a miracle It is like Allah SWT is telling My servant is telling the truth And here is, here is the proof The prophet SWT brought so many miracles around And people challenged him People in his time challenged him Challenged him, a Bedouin Just a simple Bedouin coming from the desert Wanted to see something that is not normal He asked the prophet SWT I will not testify that you are a messenger of Allah Unless these people testify that you are a messenger of Allah The prophet SWT picked them up and talked to them He said do you testify that I am the messenger of Allah They said yes We testify that you are the messenger of Allah The man reflected Put it in the hand of Abu Bakr Abu Bakr picked them up And they spoke in the hand of Abu Bakr Put them in the hand of Umar They spoke testifying that he is a true messenger of Allah And the Bedouin just became a Muslim Immediately, he didn't need more than that So, and this is narrated dozens of times Speaking, things speaking to the prophet SWT Matter, stone, trees, pebbles, animals Speaking to the prophet SWT Is narrated, we have dozens and dozens of stories That are beyond denial The people of that time could not deny them This is a historical fact As you read in history, the conquest About the conquest of Alexander the Great You read in history about the miracles of our beloved prophet SWT And I don't want in any way to compare the miracles of our beloved Prophet SWT to the resurrection of Jesus That is historically doubted As many Christian theologians and historians write and discuss I'm here talking about historical facts That are beyond controversy And there is no one single scholar Over 14 centuries that denied The miracles of our beloved prophet SWT Every type of miracle that happened to a prophet before Islam Whether it be Isa AS, Musa AS, Ibrahim AS Or any other prophet But Allah SWT gave a similar miracle to the prophet of Islam SAW You want to read stories of the miracles of the prophet SAW You should look first in your hearts You should look about the love you have For the prophet SAW in your heart And the yearning, the longing to him The respect, the awe that you have for him SAW And compare it to a trunk of a tree And see where you are as humans compared to matter And to trees and to stone The prophet SAW used to deliver his speeches Reclining beside a trunk of a palm tree This story is narrated by dozens of the Sahaba And is a mutawatir story There is no way to deny it You know, when someone tells you the sun is shining You may discuss it You're in a dark room But when a hundred people come to you inside the room Telling you the sun outside is shining You cannot tell them you're lying And everyone is saying, I saw it with my own eye It is shining, it is midday And you're saying, no, no, you're liars No, you're liars, then you're insane Very simply, you're insane You cannot deny such facts People witnessing and telling And tell me, when does the daylight need any proof? Such is the case of our beloved prophet SAW You may have people around talking and talking But, you know, a dog barks Looking at the light of the moon It's not the fault of the moon Dogs always bark It's not whether it is Jerry Falwell Or someone here or someone there It's not the fault of the moon The moon is always clear and beautiful But, it's the fault of the dogs They always bark So, you will see people around And you will hear people around But you have to establish the knowledge That these miracles are historical facts Told by a group of scholars In every generation Until they were documented And we didn't have in history Anyone doubting such stories or such facts It is our ignorance That we do not represent The life of our prophet SAW And we do not represent The proofs of his prophethood and message Properly in these societies We are concentrating more on the unity of Allah We are concentrating more on Our relationship with Allah SWT But, we have sided and marginalized The most important human being on earth Our beloved prophet SAW The channel of revelation The cause of our guidance The one who received the Quran and conveyed it to us We are ignoring him You will be surprised to know that Unbelief in Allah SWT Is defined in all of the books of theology It is the denial of the message of Our beloved prophet SAW This is kufr This is unbelief It is the denial of the message of Prophet Muhammad, the prophet of Islam Peace be upon him That is kufr If you start, try Try starting from this point Because people, as I said Quoting the Newsweek magazine People believe, Americans believe in miracles So tell them the miracles of our beloved prophet SAW Start from this point Great miracles that happened One of them is the story of the trunk Of the palm tree He SAW had some women of the Ansar Women are always in the forefront Even during the lifetime of the prophet SAW She noticed that he was standing Just holding the trunk of the palm tree The stem So she thought And she ordered She had one of her slaves Worked as a carpenter So she ordered him to design a pulpit A pulpit for the prophet SAW The prophet liked it very much It was an idea of a woman Remember, an idea of a woman And you know, the prophet SAW Liked it and stood above it It was of three stairs And the prophet SAW stood at the third stair When Abu Bakr was appointed as a caliph He stood at the second stair Giving respect to the place of the prophet SAW Where he used to stand So he didn't want to stand at the same place Sayyiduna Umar RA Giving also ultimate respect to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr And to the messenger of Allah SAW Stepped down also one step And stood during his speeches At the very first step Now it was the time of Uthman The caliph Where should he stand? So of course he returned to the third step up And stood up there Someone was talking about this story To Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan Sort of blaming Uthman for returning Up to the third step And someone answered Had Uthman not done this Probably Muawiyah and following caliphs Would be delivering their speeches From the depth of the wells If every caliph steps down One step Then you never know Where it will end Anyway The prophet liked SAW The minbar And he stood at it But look here The love, the yearning That this stem of the palm tree Had People in the mosque Heard the cry of the stem of the palm tree The cry Imagine Can you imagine the cry Hearing in front of you Witnessing miracles The sahaba witnessed miracles It is enough proof For us That these people Witnessed the miracles We don't have to witness them for ourselves They witnessed them So it is enough proof For us Although we have miracles And miracles coming Thousands and thousands of miracles Are revealed Every day Of the prophet Of his words Of the quran The news he told The knowledge he spread Yet The miracles at that time Were witnessed by those people A group All people in the mosque Heard the cry of the stem of the palm tree Until the prophet SAW Our dear beloved prophet SAW Full of mercy Full of love Full of kindness Came down Patted On the stem of the palm tree Spoke to it And gave it Two choices Would you like That I make dua That you become All green again Replanted And you become a palm tree Or else You be with me in al jannah What would you go for Now If we talk In an american way We would put it this way Would you like to get One bird in the hand Better than ten on the tree This is what they say in the english language One bird in the hand Is better than ten On the trees This is the materialistic Approach to life In the west That is to say Everything you are promised of Everything you are told of By allah subhanahu wa ta'ala You are going to get Your lord will give you Until you are satisfied Everything you are going to get In the hereafter Is just Forgotten Clean What you have now No Actually the trunk of the tree Was much wider than many people And he opted for the ultimate pleasure In the company of our beloved prophet Sallallahu ta'ala alayhi wa alihi wa sallam And he asked for that company And the prophet made dua for it That it will be in Al jannah And it is one of the rarest plants Of this world That will go to al jannah As we have some of the rarest animals also That accompany some prophets That will be with us in al jannah May allah include us In the people of al jannah And give us the company of our beloved prophet Sallallahu ta'ala alayhi wa alihi wa sallam 2014 Miracles-of-the-Prophet_Talk2 (0:00 - 1:04) The question is not about the miracles of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, but rather about our attitude towards such miracles, how we deal with these miracles. Are they just part of history? Are they just stories we go around and read to our children, or proofs to strengthen our love for the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, our conviction of his message, so that we follow him stronger, we love him stronger, we long to him more and more. People are crazy in these countries. I was once flying overseas, and this is before 9-11. I wanted to go to the lavatory. So I went to the lavatory, returned. On my return, I saw people's eyes almost heading up. Everyone is staring somewhere up like this. Everyone, all, you know, coming from the front of the plane, and everyone was looking up. (1:04 - 1:12) No one was paying attention to me. Different from now. Now when I stand up to go to the lavatory, almost everyone, you know, is worried that I'm going to hijack the plane. (1:15 - 1:27) So I looked at everyone. They are busy with something. What are they doing? I looked. There are the TV screens. So I thought, let's see what they are watching. So it was Star Trek. (1:30 - 6:15) I don't know which episode. So I thought to myself, you know, people are feeding on these stories. People are watching these stories and getting so much distracted, so much obsessed by these, what they call fiction, and they call it science fiction. Unfortunately, there's no science in it. It's all methodology, all mythology, sorry. So I thought, why don't we tell our children, instead of them being attached to such stories that are all fake and made up, why don't we tell them the story of the ascent of our beloved prophet, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, to heaven? His journey to Jerusalem, Al-Quds Al-Sharif, Al-Isra, which is told in Al-Qur'an Al-Kareem, and his journey towards the seven heavens, and what he witnessed, and what he saw, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and how he was honored, and how the prayer was made upon us, and his way back. It's a true story. It's not fiction. It's not a fake story. These miracles are true stories. We should raise up our children, not with fiction and science fiction, but rather with divine miracles that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala provided as proves to us to increase our iman, to have our children attached. I was speaking the other day at Hartford Seminary, and I said that there is something that should attract our attention comparing our recent history to our past history. The top books that were most circulated, that topped the list of Islamic books in every home, if you visited every home 100 years ago, if you visited a home sometime 50 years ago, 100 years ago, 200 years ago, what were the books that you would be finding there? Probably the most circulated book is Dalailul Khairat, prayers upon the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, a manual of prayers upon the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa alayhi wa sallam, that is recited from Indonesia to Morocco, and there are endowments for people in Damascus, in the Umayyad mosque, and other mosques, endowments for people to sit and make prayers upon the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa alayhi wa sallam. Second most circulated book, you would be surprised, would be Ash-Shifa of Imam Qadi Ayyad, his remedy on the obligations and rights towards the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Third most circulated book would be Ash-Shamail, the character of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, Ash-Shamail al-Muhammadiyah of Imam At-Tirmizi. The most circulated poem is Al-Burda, Ash-Sharifa, the cloak and the mantle of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa alayhi wa sallam. When people visit themselves with the study of the life of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and his miracles, when people visit themselves with the recitation of the story of the birth of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, as in Mawlid al-Barsanji or other stories, when people visit themselves with prayers upon the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, when the Ummah in earlier generations gave due respect to the man that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala perfected and chose to convey the message and carry the last message to humanity, when the Ummah gave such respect, high respect, the Ummah was in good state. And our cure now is to go back to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa alayhi wa sallam. It's not wrong that you debate on the existence of God. It's not wrong that you prove that God is one in front of people who claim God is three. But consider this approach, that we present the miracles of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to the people of this country. Properly write his life and depict his miracles. Tell them in schools when you make your presentations, tell the school kids about such miracles, so that they believe in him. It's a proof that he is the messenger of Allah. I'm not going here to enumerate his miracles, but I would like to tell you one thing. If you lack any miracle, if you can't find any miracle, look within yourself. Your being here in the 21st century living in America and being a Muslim is a miracle of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. (6:19 - 6:42) It is a great miracle because the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said more than 14 centuries ago, Allah showed me the east and the west of the globe. And the sovereignty of my ummah will reach all that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala showed me. And we are here, we are here because of a miracle of him sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. (6:43 - 7:04) If you don't want to accept his miracles, you have only one choice. There is only one choice. If you do not want to accept the miracles of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, you either be insane or else go and look for another planet. (7:05 - 7:46) Live on another planet and under another sky. This is what Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, Who is not satisfied with my decree and is not patient with my calamities. Let him get out of underneath my sky and find another Lord. There is no choice. If we have any non-Muslims amongst us, you have no choice. Your choice is to believe in Allah and believe in the perfect man, Sayyiduna Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. (7:46 - 8:00) And your belief is in him is a belief in Jesus and Moses and all other prophets. And to wrap up all of that, Islam is coming back inshallah. Islam is coming back. (8:00 - 9:15) Islam is coming back, not through explosions here or there. No, Islam is coming back through us, through you brothers and sisters, coming back to the man that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala selected and perfected to the best of humanity. If you come back to love the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, Allah will honor you. If you honor the man Allah honored, Allah will honor you. If you give victory to the man Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala supported, Allah will give you victory. If you give reverence and respect to the man Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala revered, Allah will give you might and Izzah. This is what Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says in the earlier verses that I recited in the beginning of this talk, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, Those who believe in him, respect him, give him support and respect and follow the light which was revealed with him, they are the ones who will succeed. May Allah grant us the company of our beloved Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. May Allah grant us the love for him. (9:15 - 11:11) May Allah move our hearts towards him. You know, we need to visit him. We need to see him in our dreams. We need to see him in our actions, in our life, embodied in our behavior. Knowing that there is no other way we can reach Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala through the perfect man Sayyiduna Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. You are the door to Allah. Whoever travels through other doors will be turned away. Sheikh Muhammad descends from a scholarly family whose lineage goes back to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam through his grandson Sayyiduna al-Hassan radiyallahu anhu. His father Sheikh Ibrahim al-Yakubi, deceased 1985, 1406 Hijri, was one of the greatest scholars of Syria. He was born in Damascus on the 13th of Dhul Hijjah in 1382 Hijri. As a little boy, he crawled in the Grand Umayyad Mosque and the Darwishiyya Mosque, accompanying his father in all gatherings and classes. Under his tutelage, Sheikh Muhammad followed a solid traditional curriculum since the age of four, studying step by step the major classical works on the various disciplines of the Shari'ah, as well as the instrumental disciplines, memorizing the necessary texts and poems. The company of his father exposed him to a wealth of light, wisdom, and knowledge, an experience that was far beyond what one may attain from books or from occasional meetings with teachers. At the age of 11, he started teaching at the Darwishiyya Mosque, a regular Qur'an and Tajweed class, and started teaching public speeches at the age of 12. At the age of 14 and a half, he made his debut as Friday speaker in the mosque known as As-Saddat, where Sayyidina Mu'idh ibn Jabal is buried. (11:12 - 12:59) He was formally appointed as Friday speaker, Khatib, in 1981 in central Damascus. In 1983, he was appointed as Imam and was commissioned to teach the sacred knowledge. In early 1986, upon the demise of his father, may Allah have mercy on him, Sheikh Muhammad was given his father's post as an instructor in the Fatwa administration. That same year, he began teaching Maliki Fiqh at the Institute of the Students of Sacred Knowledge, which is now the Institute of Sheikh Badruddin al-Hassani, till 1990 when he left Syria. Amongst the scholars who gave him ijazah, the authority to narrate hadith through their chains, beside his father, were the Malikite Mufti of Syria, Sayyid Maki al-Kitan, the previous Mufti of Syria, Sheikh Muhammad Abu Yusr al-Abidin, Sheikh Ali al-Bawdalimi of Tlemcen, Sheikh Zain al-Abidin al-Tanusi, Sheikh Abdulaziz Uyun al-Saud, Sheikh Muhammad Wafa al-Qassab, and several others. Sheikh Muhammad pursued his academic studies at the University of Damascus, Faculty of Sharia, where he frequented some lectures and benefited from several professors between 1982 and 1985. He also received a degree in Arabic literature in 1987 and completed a two-year study of philosophy at the Arab University of Beirut. In 1991, Sheikh Muhammad joined the PhD program of linguistics at Gothenburg University in Sweden, where he also taught classical Arabic literature until 1996. He worked in Dar al-Afar al-Islamiyya Kuwait in 1990 as research editor, and between 1998 and 1999 as assistant director for research and studies due to his research on ancient Arabic manuscripts and paleography. (13:00 - 14:49) He eventually resigned to devote his time to the sacred knowledge and to serve its students. He has been visiting the U.S. since 1997, teaching in various places, including the Islamic Cultural Center of New York and Zaytuna Institute, where he taught al-Muwatta of Imam Malik and Sahih al-Bukhari, amongst other books. Sheikh Muhammad sums up his way in the following words, the main focus of Muslim activists in the field of dawah should be on making people aware of the importance of learning the deen, studying the sharia, and diving into the depths of the sacred knowledge in order to ultimately live upon it. The key to the success and triumph of the Muslim ummah unequivocally lies in sacred knowledge. Only through studying the Quran, the hadith, the fiqh, and the related subjects may we increase the fear of Allah in our hearts and precisely emulate the exemplar of the Prophet, and follow the steps of the ulema. In order for the ummah to regain its intellectual consciousness and reinstate its sense of civilization, we need, beside following the Quran and the sunnah, to adhere to the way of the ulema that spans over 14 centuries, a way that, in reflecting the Quran and the sunnah, articulated the corpus of fiqh and the exegesis of the Quran and sunnah, thus introducing the way to the following generations. Recognizing this legacy and digging out its treasures is vital to the recovery of the ummah. This can only be done through reviving the tradition of learning and teaching in Islam, where a teacher represents the spring of knowledge and the exemplar of righteousness, the continuation of the glorious past, and the embodiment of the blessing and light of an unbroken chain of transmission. People should know that, unlike political movements and sectarian groups, we do not call to our own way, nor do we have our own new agenda.
